8/23 Weather Brief

  • Drying out today
  • Remnants of Henri depart
  • Warm day today, chance of storms

Current Surface Chart

Remnants of Henri currently centered in southern NY just across the state border from PA.

On satellite you can also see the center of circulation pretty clearly. There is some clearing out to the west, so some sun is expected today which can trigger some storms before Henri departs.

Rainfall Totals

By far the biggest weather story has been flooding. There are huge rain amounts and flood warnings remain in effect. This was a concern I expressed on Twitter leading up to the storm. Be careful in flooded roadways and try to find and alternative route. Widespread 4-6″ of rain.

High Temps

We should be mostly dry today with pokes of sunshine. There is a chance for evening storms, unlikely to be severe but the possibility does exist. High temps today near 87 degrees in the city.

Storms

Marginal chance for severe weather, mostly early this afternoon (12pm-4pm) before Henri departs. Pop-up isolated storms, not necessarily an organized area of convection.
