7/4 Weather Brief

  • Quieter weather today
  • Warming up, highs in low 80s
  • Beaches a little chilly today

We remain underneath upper level low, which could trigger some showers this afternoon. Water vapor courtesy of NHC shows trough over the northeast, this will continue to swing out today.

NAM shows chance of showers this afternoon. Its going to be of the pop up variety, mostly in EPa and NJ. No complete washout, just a passing shower/thunderstorm. Most of the area should be dry. Plot courtesy of pivotalweather

Last 24 hours we received some steady rains in the area. Central NJ missed out on it yesterday, so it wasn’t a complete washout for the whole area.

Today the NWS expects our temps to climb to around 80. A little more of a summer feel for your 4th of July.

If you’re headed down the shore, winds will be coming from south/southeast, so might stay a little cooler closer to the water. This morning’s satellite and buoy readings suggest water temps in the low to mid-60s, so might need a wetsuit for a long swim. Low chance for big waves or rip currents.. Further out in the tropics, Tropical Storm Elsa doesn’t look too strong and will be crossing over Cuba. For now looks like it will remain weak. There is a chance late this week she gets scooped up by a cold front and approaches the area as a clump of rain, but for now nothing to get worried about.

Enjoy the holiday and stay safe!
