8/17 Weather Brief

  • Cool but humid today
  • Best chance of rain remains to our west
  • Fred’s remnants move in overnight

Surface Chart

We have a stalled frontal boundary in the area that has been causing the cloudiness and showers to our west. Yesterday it was south of the area, but moved north through the day and parts of PA are now south of the boundary. It will continue to meander today.

Radar

Had some showers move through this morning but mainly to our west. Current radar isn’t too impressive for our area.

Overnight rainfall totals

Not too bad for us, but parts of PA/MD/VA received inches of rainfall yesterday. Parts of NEPA overnight also received 0.25-0.5″ of rain.

High Temps

Low to mid-80s today, we will be in that easterly wind flow still that will zap rain on approach but also keep temps cool

Fred

Remnants of tropical storm Fred will be approaching western parts of the region overnight. This is the NAM around midnight. Might bring some heavy rain and gusty winds overnight in parts of western PA.

Other than that, a passing shower is possible today in EPA, but keep the sprinklers on for this evening as most of the rain will be light.
