8/26 Weather Brief

  • Hot and humid, heat index near 100
  • Heat advisory in effect
  • Air quality alert code orange, sensitive groups at risk

High Temps

Today we are staring down mostly sunny skies and humid weather. Highs in the low 90s

When combining with the humidity, temperatures this afternoon will feel close to 100. The NWS has a heat advisory in effect for this reason.

In addition, the outlook today suggests ozone particles will reach moderate levels, prompting cod orange air quality alert for sensitive individuals. Be careful in the afternoon if you are sensitive.

Storms

Unlike the last 2 days, we will introduce a chance of storms. SPC only has a slight risk for severe weather, but pop up storms are possible this evening.

One of the short range models, FV3, has a decent amount of activity this evening. Something to keep an eye on. Nothing organized, but could see a cluster of storms pop up in Eastern PA into NJ.

Thank you for reading and stay safe out there today!
