This picture was taken on the 31st of October in 2015. Forming over the mountain tops in Breckenridge, Colorado, this cloud formation occurs when high levels of shear move over top slower moving clouds. A similar result occurs when you are at the beach where wind whips up smaller waves and then causes the surf to break over the water.
